Starting Strong 2012

ESD 112 was pleased to host the 4th Annual Starting Strong P-3 Institute in 2012! The conference brought together early learning professionals and K-12 educators for discussions about innovation and alignment between systems. We thank the superintendents, principals, K-3 teachers, child care providers, parents and community agency partners and staff who attended this valuable opportunity.

ESD 189 will be hosting the 5th Annual Starting Strong Conference on August 6 & 7th, 2013 in Lynwood, Washington at the Lynwood Convention Center.

The Annual P-3 Starting Strong Institute is a two-day conference focusing on three main goals:

  • Increasing connections between early learning and K-12 professionals
  • Applying theory to practice within a P-3 framework
  • Connecting to the Early Learning Plan and the state's early learning priorities for 2012

The conference will include breakout sessions focused on P-3 alignment and implementation including WaKIDS, the Early Learning Guidelines and Common Core, Community Collaboration and much more!

Nationally recognized speaker and leader of The Children’s Movement of Florida, which works to make all children Florida’s priority in investment and decision-making.

Kristie KauerzDay Two Keynote: Kristie Kauerz, Ed.D.

Kristie Kauerz specializes in early care and education and elementary school reform. Kristie’s extensive state-level policy experience includes working with more than 40 states on issues related to P-3 (pre-natal through 3rd grade), comprehensive early childhood systems-building, and the linkages between policy, research, and practice. Kristie received her doctorate in early childhood policy from Teachers College, Columbia University and she is currently a Research Scientist and Project Director of PreK-3rd Education in the College of Education at the University of Washington.
