Middle School DMC Resources

Here are a few starting points for middle school students. Some may be more appropriate for classrooms with many devices; others will work well for the one-computer classroom. Enjoy exploring the many resources at your disposal!

World Book Online:

  • World Book Student and World Book Advanced—similar content, but Student is a lower reading level; Advanced most appropriate for 8th grade and up
  • World Book Discover - High interest, appropriate content, lower reading level for ELL or Special Education middle or high school students
  • Timelines—students can create their own or view pre-made timelines

SIRS Discoverer:

  • Pre-screened magazine articles, reference books, websites, newspapers
  • Science Fair Explorer—project and research ideas
  • Maps - all countries, including blank outline maps

Learn360:

  • Search streaming and downloadable videos for all grade levels
  • Short clips to introduce lessons, longer clips potentially helpful for "flipping" classroom, longer videos to be viewed during class while taking notes and facilitating discussion/response
  • Bill Nye, Discover, A&E, History Channel, National Geographic, and more
